This Hill-Stewart song is about the socialist tradition on the Clyde, `Our red river`, which has seen the politics of the city of Glasgow flow over the years.
This is my version of an old song often performed by Scottish and Irish singers. I gave it a folk-rock treatment, with a wee riff added. Featuring my band, Celtic Highway.
The letters of Josiah Godber
Godber lived in Derbyshire in the 18th century and took part in the `Pentrich Revolution` against the Tory government. He was transported to Botany Bay and never saw his family, or England again. Jeanette Hill sings here, using my words, adapted from letters which Godber wrote to his wife.
