I work with Glasgow song-writer, Jeanette Hill. She writes the words: I do th

Our Red River

This Hill-Stewart song is about the socialist tradition on the Clyde, `Our red river`, which has seen the politics of the city of Glasgow flow over the years.

Peggy Gordon

This is my version of an old song often performed by Scottish and Irish singers. I gave it a folk-rock treatment, with a wee riff added. Featuring my band, Celtic Highway.

The letters of Josiah Godber

Godber lived in Derbyshire in the 18th century and took part in the `Pentrich Revolution` against the  Tory government. He was transported to Botany Bay and never saw his family, or England again. Jeanette Hill sings here, using my words, adapted from letters  which Godber wrote to his wife.

1-1 lessons on Mandolin and guitar

Lessons: Guitar or Mandolin

I studied for Grade 6 Traditional Scottish music on the Mandolin, passing that in 2017. I went onto gain my Grade 8 in the Spring of 2018, awarded with Distinction!

I began doing a few online lessons in the Spring of 2020, using Zoom or Facetime. They work out ok, although you can't really play together as there is a slight delay. But it's safe and I don't have to use up any fuel driving around.  That's the future of music?

By the way, I am a qualified teacher too. (PGCE London, 1986)
